External Affairs Associate at Peloton

We are seeking a self-starting External Affairs Associate to help research Peloton’s most critical issues, develop materials to engage stakeholders, support Peloton’s stakeholder engagement, and enable Peloton to grow and scale in the coming months.  This position promises a successful team member the opportunity to grow in responsibility.  
 
The External Affairs team unlocks markets to sell Peloton products, and engages with stakeholders ranging from regulators and legislators to interest groups and industry leaders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Track legislation, regulations, and other government activities across multiple states and the federal government.
    • Research key issues related to public affairs, including connected and automated vehicle policies, stakeholder perspectives, and industry trends.
    • Support cross-functional activities, including truck demonstrations, through careful planning and attention to detail. 
    • Develop compelling materials for the External Affairs team for presentation to a wide variety of stakeholders, including slides, talking points, one-pagers graphics, and longer-form documents.
    • Assist Legal Affairs and Truck Operations with tracking compliance with federal and state laws and regulations related to commercial trucking.
    • Develop responses to public affairs inquiries related to regulatory allowances for truck platooning.
    • Communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders, including commercial truck drivers; federal, state, and local law enforcement; transportation officials; trucking fleet representatives, etc.
    • Manage administrative tasks for the External Affairs team, including expense reports, travel arrangements, tracking public speaking invites, and state lobbying registrations.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • The ability to prioritize and multitask, as well as willingness to roll up your sleeves and contribute to the overall success of Peloton.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Self-sufficient and able to work with little direct supervision, but mature enough to know when to seek direction or assistance.
    • Strong analytical & presentation skills.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Ability to present complex technology and public policy matters to small and large audiences. 
    • Experience in tracking and analyzing existing or proposed transportation laws or regulations.
    • Experience educating and persuading public officials about complex policy matters.
    • Public sector, startup, and/or startup-like experience.
    • A sense of humor.
