Shooter/Editor (Freelance) at Brit + Co.

Brit + Co is looking for an experienced video shooter/editor with a proven track record of creating short-form and long-form video content. The ideal candidate understands the Brit + Co visual voice and brand and can help translate that across our many different platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Shoot, edit, and finish video content including short-form social videos, branded series and online classes.  
  • Work directly with producers on shot lists, sets, and storylines that uplevel content and represent our brand.
  • Light, rig and prepare for shoots.
  • Grip and gaff for sets ranging from docu-style to short online web video both in studio and in the field.
  • Prepare and manage camera setups (Canon cameras).
  • Edit videos on a tight timeline and have experience addressing detailed producer and director notes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized layout with both editing and archiving.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You have a video portfolio of projects that you have shot and/or edited as well as at least 3-5 years of shooting/editing experience.
  • Portfolio represents that you are equal parts shooter and editor.
  • You’re scrappy. You’ve worked as a one-person band with large and small crews, you don’t mind wearing multiple hats, and you solve the problems before they are issues.
  • You confidently bring your creative POV to the table and can nail the Brit + Co brand aesthetic.
  • You are very proficient with Canon cameras (5D MK3 and 4, C100, C300).
  • You obsess over nailing the lighting for everything you shoot and can get a bit MacGyver-ish about rigging studio lighting setups and manipulating natural light in the field.
  • You have the ability to see the edit before it’s shot and have a keen sense on what will and will not cut.
  • You are a master at Premiere Pro and editing.
  • When editing, you have a natural feel for proper pacing, music selection and quickly integrate producer notes.
  • You can tackle the basic finishing yourself (audio mixing and color correction).
  • You understand codecs, exporting, transcoding, compressing and converting video files.
  • You are a pro at keeping your media tidy! We’ll be doing a lot of shooting so archiving and media organization will be key.
  • Maintain and organize equipment and cabling.
