Deep Learning Engineer at Matroid

With the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, more and more expert knowledge is required to use cutting edge AI techniques to solve real world problems. At Matroid, we’re building an intuitive product that allows anyone to train and deploy computer vision models without needing to know how to write a line of code. Founded by a Stanford Professor in 2016, Matroid has raised $13.5 million in funding, and the product has been successfully used in a range of security and media applications.

We’re looking for a talented engineers to design and develop novel features for our computer vision platform. Creating a product in a new space requires creativity and technical acuity, and as part of the Matroid product team, you’ll shape the functionality and feel of our platform, breaking new ground while working in an engineering culture that fosters employee empowerment. Over time, your role on the team with evolve with your growing interests and skill set.

You’ll be working onsite at our Palo Alto office, located near the Stanford campus and Caltrain.


  • Create new neural network architectures and integrate them into the Matroid platform. 
  • Develop prototypes and execute experiments to help guide engineering efforts.
  • Explore new model families and machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience with Deep Learning and CNNs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors in Computer Science (AI/ML specialization), Statistics, Mathematics (Probability), or equivalent.
  • Strong foundations in probability, linear algebra, and optimization.
  • Background in machine learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale industrial applications of statistical modeling and inference.
  • Experience with machine learning in computer vision.
  • PhD in Computer Science (AI/ML specialization), Statistics, Mathematics (Probability), or equivalent.
