Sr. Software Development Engineer – OpenCar Services at Inrix

Want to be part of a dynamic team working on the latest automotive tech? Do you enjoy solving scale and performance challenges using the latest cloud computing methods, machine learning and SOA? The INRIX OpenCar Team is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to join our growing team.

We are building a scalable backend to support the OpenCar in-car application platform, delivering an entirely new range of connected experiences to automakers and drivers worldwide. We work as a small, focused team, 100% scrum based, with deadlines and deliverables but as little fixed process as possible. If you want to get in a car one day and say “I did that,” INRIX is the place for you.


Are familiar with the solutions and tools offered by AWS, Azure and other cloud service providers
Work with focus and consistency, and take pride in producing high quality code
Solve complex problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices
Work with your team to invent, design and build software that is stable and performant
Write code that an SDE unfamiliar with the system can understand
Work on project ideas with customers, stakeholders and peers
Help balance customer requirements with team requirements
Help your team evolve by actively participating in the code review process, design discussion, team planning and ticket reviews.
Focus on operational excellence, constructively identifying problems and proposing solutions
Your Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated proficiency with Java, C++ and/or equivalent object-oriented programming languages.
Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
Computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithm design, and data structures

MS in Computer Science with 7-10+ years of experience in multithreaded, distributed system design and architecture
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations.
Ability to take a project from scoping requirement through actual launch of the project.
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, and describe software product features and technical designs.
Solid testing and debugging skills.
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
