In-House Counsel required for an expanding technology company operating within cutting edge technological and legal environments.

Growing Toronto-based Technology company active in Authentication/Identity/Blockchain/Cloud/Online & Mobile spaces in Canada, US and certain int’l territories (approx 80 employees, with plans to expand to approximately 95 in the next year)
Candidate will ideally have 4-6 years of experience, including a combination of private practice and in-house; US experience / call would be a bonus
Supporting the General Counsel, other members of Senior Mgmt and various other employees
Will be expected to provide strategic advice, as opposed to strict ‘legal’ input, and will need to be able to balance competing priorities and responsibilities in a very hectic and constantly evolving environment
Responsible for a very busy and active commercial portfolio, including negotiation of multiple commercial agreements with financial institutions and credit bureaus, Cdn and US govt bodies, numerous large and small tech providers in identity and authentication space
Must have experience and expertise in a broad range of commercial agreements, including confidentiality, pilot/trial, sales, purchasing, teaming/joint venture arrangements, as well as licensing, technology development and professional services agreements
Candidate will be expected to assume oversight and management of the company’s IP Portfolio over time, including approx.15 patents and 15 TMs (Canada/US/Int’l)
As required, will be expected to instruct, oversee and work with external counsel for M&A/Corporate, Complex Commercial and Licensing as well as IP matters
Knowledge and experience with Technology and IP matters, Privacy Law and Consumer Law issues a must
Some familiarity with Employment and Marketing matters would be beneficial
