As a key member of our Customer Success team, the Data Engineer is responsible for continuous development of existing customer data product implementations. Our global team of technical program managers and engineers work together with customers to gather requirements, design data products, implement solutions, and QA results. Data Engineers own the implementation of both the dimensional data models and data pipelines (ETLs primarily written in SQL). You must be able to demonstrate deep technical expertise and clearly articulate technical topics even to non-technical audiences.





3+ years of experience with demonstrated client-facing/customer success experience

Fluency in SQL and experience in Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development in SQL

Understanding of dimensional and normalized database models and their applications

Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

Solid understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodologies and software development tools (JIRA preferred)

Excellent written/oral communication and collaboration skills

BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other related technical field

Implement effective and scalable end-to-end data pipeline solutions

Optimize SQL queries for scale

Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models

Build metrics and reports

Address functional requirements and quality attributes

Deliver development tasks for multiple customer implementations simultaneously

Collaborate with Technical Program Managers to prioritize delivery tasks between different customers and within customer implementations

Become an expert on GoodData’s products, tools, and services with up to the minute technologies



Proven track-record of building successful data products

Experience working with globally distributed teams 

Experience in the Business Intelligence (BI) / Data Warehousing (DW) industry

IT consulting skills and experience

Experience working in professional services organization

Experience with columnar databases

Experience with Ruby

Experience with JavaScript

Experience with REST APIs
