PR Executive at What3Words
London, GB

We are seeking a PR Excecutive with great passion and energy to work directly with our PR Lead, creating a PR department within the marketing team.

what3words to date has only had one person managing our PR, who works across all markets we operate in, managing our external agencies and creating our pipeline of PR-worthy stories. From China to Mexico, South Korea and the USA, we work with different agencies to maximise our announcements and make an impact. We’ve had an incredible year for generating press, and are now looking to take it up a level by broadening out the team.

You’ll work collaboratively in a motivated marketing team, reporting directly to our PR Lead and closely with our CMO and Head of Communications. You’ll need to be proactive, creative and enjoy the rapid pace of a tech company that’s trying to create a global standard.

Requirements

  • Supporting PR lead with the implementation of PR and media relations campaigns. Assist in managing external PR agencies across all corners of the globe; from compiling press kits, to putting together briefing packs and key messaging docs.
  • Create compelling news hooks and pitches to create a PR pipeline of internal, company led PR campaigns.
  • Proactively search for new stories - this might mean collaborating with other departments in the business, from Business Development to Growth.
  • Build and maintain ‘friendly’ media contacts; ensuring we have our database up-to-date and are continuing to seek out opportunities and journalists who might be interested in what3words. You’ll also be creating project-specific media lists.
  • Working closely with our in-house design team, making sure that our press kits are up to date with assets that are relevant and engaging for journalists.
  • Managing what3words’ filing and reporting of coverage to different stakeholders across the business, whilst assisting in tracking media coverage and PR metrics.
  • Continually assess which Awards and Events what3words should be pitched for, and supporting on their submissions.
  • Occasionally provide on-the-ground assistance at industry events.

Skills:

  • You’ll be a great storyteller, with the ability to create and seek-out strong PR stories and hooks.
  • You’ll hold excellent communication and writing skills in English. Any secondary languages are a welcomed bonus.
  • Superior business awareness and a good knowledge of current affairs.
  • You’ll be a good hustler - you’ll know how to pick up the phone and speak to journalists.
  • Must have a calm approach – with the ability to think on your feet, add ideas and work quickly under pressure.
  • Good knowledge of best practice for PR campaigns, from inception to reporting.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a PR-related position. Extra credit if this has been for a fast-growth tech company.
  • Proficient in journalist database platforms such as Meltwater and Gorkana.
