Sales Engineer at Swarm64
Boston, MA, US

This role is based in the Boston Metro area.

This is an exciting opportunity to help evolve Swarm64’s Customer Success practice. We put the needs of our customers first, and Sales Engineer - Database/Analytics, are the voice of the customer internally. You will provide accurate technical service before and after the point of sale, ensuring customers get the most from our product. You will have a set of accounts for whom you will be the primary operational contact, ensuring they are successfully onboarded, their implementation is comprehensive, and they are able to achieve their goals with the product.

If you answer YES to the following, you may be a fit for the Sales Engineer role:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pre-sales or post-sales/consulting in either database, data warehouse or data analytics.
  • Must have strong Database / SQL software development experience, including query analysis and optimization
  • Must have strong Data analytics use case experience
  • Must have strong experience in relational data models and database schema design
  • Experience with cloud services
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux environments, cluster environments, all types of storage environments
  • Experienced user of SQL, scripting languages (such as Python) and ETL tools (such as Pentaho). Knowledge of BI tools (e.g. Tableau) a bonus.
  • Demonstrated excellence at problem-solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with top notch presentation skills.
  • A quick study, and the ability to apply what you’ve learned in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organization skills, timely updates to corporate systems (salesforce.com, confluence, etc.)
  • Able and willing to travel as the job requires (can be up to 70%)

The Role

Our customers are highly technical (data analytics software and infrastructure engineers, CTOs, etc.), so you should be comfortable interacting with folks in those roles. Your prime directive is to drive adoption by our customers that can range from initial product presentation and demos, solution design, training, to setting up PoCs in a variety of use cases. You will match current and upcoming product features to customer needs. In this context, you will be the “voice of the customer” within Swarm64 and educate other employees to elevate the company’s collective customer knowledge and understanding.

 

As a Sales Engineer, you should have a strong technical background in database/SQL development and/or analytics, be able to establish credibility with a technical audience, and be capable of establishing relationships at a range of levels within our customer organizations, from practitioners to management. Our users are DBAs, analytics developers and infrastructure engineers, and the Sales Engineer helps our users apply Swarm64 to their data analytics use cases.
