Import/Export Coordinator at ViewSonic

SUMMARY 

Responsible for development and administration of programs to achieve optimal methods of transportation.  Primary duty is to monitor import shipments while coordinating with carrier, customs broker, trucking company and sales support group through clear communication, accurate reporting and strategic approach.  Primary goal is to facilitate fluid and uninterrupted movements of company products to reduce cost and lead-time while proactively eliminating potential concerns, thereby assuring highest productivity and operational excellence.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Arranges import shipments from port to company warehouse on a daily basis.
  • Assists daily operations of import shipments to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Point of contact with carrier, trucking company, port, and customs broker to resolve import issues and ensure smooth import transaction.
  • Tracks and reviews status of all import activities and ETA schedules.
  • Receives and transfers product into inventory system timely and accurately.
  • Assists shipping team to select best and most cost effective shipping method.
  • Reviews and audits outbound freight invoices, import trucking invoices to ensure accurate and timely payment.
  • Handles routine questions and problems, communicate with other departments to obtain and provide status update throughout the ship/delivery cycle.
  • Stay informed on market rates and current news to maintain and ensure cost advantage, efficient transportation and proactive approach to solving problems.
  • Reviews and verifies monthly freight report for weight data accuracy.
  • Assists claim team with shipping losses or damages in transit. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-year Associate Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in custom/shipping business.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel. 
  • Must be detail oriented; possess good verbal/ written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a multitude of tasks on a daily basis.

Environment: Normal office conditions.

Physical Effort: Work requires infrequent physical demands.

Hazards:  Negligible, little or no exposure to hazards.
