Software Engineer, Build and Release at Bossa Nova Robotics

Our robots navigate the busy retail ecosystem, collecting a wealth of data that allows retailers to improve product availability, streamline operations, and create a better shopping experience. Our multidisciplinary team of robotics, artificial intelligence, and big data scientists has solved the challenges to deploy fully autonomous retail service robots and deliver actionable data in real-time.

Bossa Nova’s robots are currently deployed in 50 stores across the United States, making it the largest deployment of this kind of technology anywhere in the world.  

Position: Software Engineer, Build and Release

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Job Description:

We need your help to support the building, testing, and deployment of robotics software that autonomously navigates hundreds of miles (and rapidly growing!) of retail environments every day.

As part of the system engineering and architecture team supporting our robotics codebase, you'll be part of the group that ensures that robot code builds, tests, and deploys correctly for the internal consumers of our services.

Your work will enable our internal teams to rapidly deploy services; quickly diagnose, escalate, and resolve issues; and help the team scale. This will enable us to meet the ever growing needs of our customers and fleet of robots. 

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a simplified reproducible build environment for robotics code that allows graphics and native development
  • Extend tooling for generating and managing release artifacts
  • Support the robot CI/CD process
  • Work with robotics developers to enhance our build and test process

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working with build systems, environments, and continuous integration: CMake/Catkin/Bazel, Docker, Linux, Git, Jenkins pipelines
  • Experience working with software version control systems, packaging, and artifact management: Git/Mercurial, debians/wheels/containerization
  • Proficiency with Python and Bash
