Validation & Test Engineer at Aeye

Since its demonstration of its solid state LiDAR scanner in 2013, AEye has pioneered breakthroughs in intelligent sensing. The company is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and backed by world-renowned investors such as Kleiner Perkins, Intel, Airbus, Subaru, LG Electronics, Hella, and more.

 AEye is looking for a highly motivated Hardware Validation & Test Engineer to work with the Electrical Engineering Development team. The individual will assist with the process of designing for test & manufacturability, the development and implementation of prototype test procedures (from both feature and environmental ruggedness perspectives),  and various additional aspects relating to design verification and the transition from prototype to mature product. 


Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design process to enhance testability and reliability of electronic systems
  • Develop test platforms, fixtures, and programming tools required for thorough design test & verification
  • Work with pcb and firmware engineers to develop test plans
  • Oversee the implementation of test plans, work with design engineers to remedy failures and deficiencies
  • Help manage on-site and off-site environmental testing using environmental chamber and 3rdparty EMC and/or Environmental Test laboratories/facilities.
  • Help manage the overall logistics of prototype electronics builds and early-stage ECO’s and changes.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Essential Skills & Experience Requirements (required):

  • At least 3 years Industry Experience in Electronics Design Test & Verification for moderate to high-volume products
  • BSEE, MSEE or equivalent
  • Proficiency with analog and digital test equipment for power systems, high-speed digital logic, and analog circuitrs
  • Proficiency in scripting languages for efficient implementation of test procedures
  • Competence in electronic circuit design; ability to design pcb’s and/or fixtures (as needed) in order to implement thorough test & verification plans
  • Good oral and written communications skills; ability to document work and interact well with external contractors, lab facilities, and Aeye colleagues.


Preferred Skills & Experience (useful):

  • Experience in a fast-paced and demanding start-up experience.
  • Programming experience (such as C/C++) – or an ability to learn – for the purpose of writing targeted product diagnostic tools (memory test, operational stress tests, etc)
  • Ability to help with logistic aspects of electronics prototype builds (track status/state of internal prototypes, etc…)
