The Role:

As Staff Engineer for ASIC Development at Ossia, you will be responsible for leading and managing the custom IC designs used in next generation wireless power systems. This role requires technical knowledge of ASIC design (both RF and digital) and semiconductor processes applicable to RF IC’s that operate in the 2GHz to 6GHz frequency range. The well qualified candidate will also be an expert in the development process of RF IC’s with a deep understanding of each step. This position requires solid experience in a relevant field as well as strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of innovative application specific IC’s (ASIC’s) for wireless power applications.
  • Act as the primary technical interface between the Ossia engineering team and the ASIC development team/supplier to successfully bring new reference designs from initial concept to full scale production ready.
  • Work with the cross functional engineering teams to create and maintain relevant documentation (such as specifications, test procedures, etc.) needed by the ASIC supplier and for internal engineering qualification.
  • Develop detailed technical road maps, project plans, and timelines covering the entire development cycle.
  • Conduct the engineering evaluation of initial prototype samples from the supplier(s) and create comprehensive test reports.
  • Work with the senior executive staff to create an ASIC strategy that will satisfy various wireless power markets needs considering regulatory requirements, cost, and time to market.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 12+ years’ experience in low cost (consumer and automotive products) mixed-signal IC Design with emphasis on RF circuits operating over 2GHz. Experience in analog and power circuits (buck/boost regulators, RF rectifiers) is a plus.
  • Must have design experience with several of the following functional blocks such as LNA’s, PA’s, Mixers, PLL’s, Phase Shifters.
  • Experience with circuit board application designs and analysis and RF layout and understanding of RF device operation.
  • Design experience in commonly used semiconductor processes such as CMOS and SiGe BiCMOS with detailed understanding of trade offs required.
  • Good communication skills required and independent and creative problem solver
  • Must be able to work in team environment, participate in discussions of technical issues, and other design aspects with internal teams and with customers, will draft documents to communicate with internal teams or customer teams
  • Ability to work in a lab environment, knowledgeable of applicable test equipment used in the testing and evaluation of mixed signal ASIC’s.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership for ASIC design related issues.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving is highly required
  • Can effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, identify high risk areas, implement risk mitigation techniques.



BSEE/MSEE (preferred), Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
