Sr. Production Scientist, CRISPRevolution at Synthego

Synthego is enabling genome engineering at scale with a blend of scientific instrumentation, industrial automation, and data science. Our team of scientists and engineers are putting multidisciplinary fields together to solve problems that no one field can tackle alone.
 
We are searching for an innovative, experienced scientist to lead the AdvancedRNA production team, support the transfer of new protocols into production, troubleshoot issues in the lab, as well as train and mentor a team of research associates. With a focus on quality and scale, this role will be responsible for developing and executing plans to produce sgRNA to unique customer specifications, document the process by establishing world-class operating protocols, initiate process improvement projects to drive reproducibility and efficiency, and manage a growing team of AdvancedRNA Research Associates. The ideal candidate is well-versed in oligonucleotide synthesis and purification techniques, analytical instrumentation, and GLP/GMP. This position requires the tact to manage and mentor others, as well as the sense of urgency and ability to get hands-on when necessary.

What You'll Do

    • Ownership of AdvancedRNA production and order fulfillment utilizing our proprietary synthesizer technology and purification techniques
    • Management, development, and oversight of team of AdvancedRNA Research Associates 
    • Development of assays and quality control protocols for the qualification of raw and in-process materials
    • End to end ownership of complex custom orders, including equipment and production resource planning as well as the successful on-time delivery of high quality, customer orders
    • Collaborate with science, engineering, and marketing teams to design and implement innovative solutions to meet and exceed customer expectations
    • Operate complex scientific instrumentation for the synthesis and purification of oligonucleotides, with the innate ability to interpret LC/MS data, and adjust the process as necessary to achieve the desired output
    • Coordinate with systems engineering and quality to ensure the seamless transfer of new products and processes into production
    • Uphold strict production and quality control processes to ensure incoming, in-process, and finished goods materials meet all published specifications
    • Participate in the site audit program, ensuring compliance to all published procedures
    • Author and maintain production work instructions
    • Ensure lab standards are upheld, labware and equipment are properly maintained, and hazardous materials are disposed of in accordance with regulatory requirements 

About You

    • MS in Chemistry, or relevant industry experience
    • 3+ years experience in a high throughput reagent manufacturing operation, ideally oligonucleotide production
    • Strong understanding of synthesis, purification, and analytical laboratory equipment and chemistries
    • Experience with formal quality management systems required, ISO 13485 and cGMP preferred
    • Innovative, motivated, and independent leader possessing a player/coach mentality
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
