Test & Validation Engineer at Bossa Nova Robotics

Position: Test & Validation Engineer

Location: Leetsdale, PA

Description:

As a part of the Bossa Nova Robotics Quality & Reliability team, the Test & Validation Engineer will work in a collaborative environment with reliability, safety/compliance, hardware, software, & manufacturing engineering to perform validation & reliability tests of the robot/dock at the system, sub-system, & component levels, as well as develop and design the test equipment to perform the tests.  

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and/or coordinate validation & reliability tests per internal and/or external industry standards.
  • Coordinate outside laboratory validation & reliability tests when internal equipment/facilities are not available.  
  • Design validation & reliability test equipment and fixtures (hardware & software) for system, sub-system, and component testing.
  • Build or coordinate building of validation & reliability test equipment and fixtures.
  • Develop validation & reliability test plans to ensure the product meets requirements.
  • Prepare validation & reliability test reports.
  • Work with the reliability engineer to develop test methods and instructions.
  • Collection and statistical analysis of data generated from tests.
  • Work with outside laboratories to define test requirements, issue request for quote, coordinate laboratory selection, schedule tests, execute tests, and interpret results.
  • Issue failure reports for failed tests and work with cross-functional teams on failure analysis, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • 5 - 10 years test equipment design (hardware & software).
  • 5 - 10 years validation and/or reliability testing of hardware/software systems.
  • Experience working with outside laboratories.
  • Experience testing components, sub-systems, and complete systems.
  • Knowledge of data collection techniques.
  • Experience with the statistical analysis of data using Minitab, JMP, or similar applications.
  • Data collection, disposition and reporting abilities.
  • Minimum requirement of bachelors degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering or equivalent.
  • Confident with navigating in an ambiguous environment.
  • Experience in working in a dynamic engineering environment.
  • Experience in bug management, scheduling, & reporting systems using tools such as JIRA/Confluence or equivalent.
  • Experience with robotics systems and industrial grade battery systems preferred.
