Software Engineering Manager - Developer Relations at Carbon Black

We are looking for a software engineering manager to lead our Developer Relations team in Boulder, CO  to support our growing Carbon Black Developer Network.  We are building a world class and diverse Developer Relations team to build a developer ecosystems of integrations with Carbon Black’s security platform. We believe developers are our most loyal ambassadors, and as an organization we want to enable those developers by supporting them with a strong development organization.

  • Experienced creating RESTful APIs

  • A plus: Fluent in open source platforms and technologies, including using GitHub for sharing open source code, continuous integration and testing platforms, and automated build/deployment systems

  • Excited to work with a distributed and cross-functional team

  • Eager to move work in a high-growth, fast-paced environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing the development team from mentoring junior engineers, to guiding the team to grow their careers.

  • Ability to attract top talent and incorporate them into a highly functional and fun team

  • Familiarity with modern software development practices. Professional software engineering practices for full development lifecycle. Including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, quality and testing, and operational health.

  • Project management experience with Agile methodologies

  • Ability to effectively determine and manage priorities independently

  • Experience collaborating with other technical teams, senior leadership.

  • Customer engagement online or direct connect

  • Ability to refine requirements and instill quality practices in the development process

  • Comfortable with software development in Python

  • Comfortable with basic Javascript user interface development

  • Use source control, specifically GitHub

  • Responsible for responding to customer and partner support inquiries related to our APIs and anything we’ve produced within Developer Relations

  • Familiar with Agile, Scrum, and Sprint methodologies

  • Represent Carbon Black respectfully and professionally in an outward facing way


Requirements and Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related field required, with post-graduate degree a plus

  • 4+ years of serving in an engineering management or technical leadership role

  • Security Knowledge a plus

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, results oriented environment

  • Track record of delivering on schedule

  • Excellent social, organizational, planning and prioritization skills.

  • Customer engagement and interaction a plus
