Staff Accountant at FogHorn

FogHorn Systems, Inc. has an opportunity for a Staff Accountant to join their growing organization in Sunnyvale, CA. This is a dynamic role in a growing company and you will be asked to wear both strategic and tactical hats while at the forefront of helping to build accounting operational excellence. In this high visibility role, you’ll do a little bit of everything: month end close, accounts receivable/payable, payroll and other general ledger transactions. Ultimately, you will help drive efficiencies in the financial processes, become a subject matter expert within the general accounting team, and assist in implementing an ERP system. The successful candidate is an Excel master, with an eye for detail and the drive to get it right.

Highlight of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily accounting operation including invoicing, receipts and collections.
  • Manage and complete month-end close tasks including reconciliations, as well as identifying trends in our financial statements
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations
  • Record adjusting journal entries and manage the general ledger
  • Review revenue contracts for compliance with the company’s revenue recognition policy and internal controls
  • Ongoing processing of revenue transactions, including preparation and documentation of revenue calculations for SaaS and Professional Services.
  • Assist with documentation of policies and procedures related to assigned responsibilities
  • Support external audit requirements 

Key Qualifications:

  • A college degree with a B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • ERP systems experience, NetSuite or Sage Intacct is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and adhere to tight deadlines
  • A precision- and detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical skills
  • A proven ability to identify and drive process/system improvements
  • Solid communication skills (written and verbal); strong interpersonal skills including conscientiousness, diplomacy, flexibility, and dependability; ability to maintain confidentiality
  • An ability to work effectively within a team, as well as independently and cross-functionally
  • A trustworthy, positive, energetic and optimistic attitude with a willingness to roll up your sleeves
