Head of Tax at Venafi

How you’ll be protecting the world:

As Head of Tax at Venafi you’ll be part of an extremely motivated, dedicated, and experienced Finance team that fuels the products that protect many of the largest organizations in the world.

 

As the first fully dedicated tax professional at Venafi, you will be responsible for all tax accounting, reporting and compliance, and legal entity structure. In addition, you will oversee external tax service providers where needed. You will get to develop and implement global tax planning and growth strategies for a dynamic cybersecurity software company. You will have the opportunity to be a key contributor to M&A analysis and will support transactions, new country entry and new company formation as the company grows.

As Venafi’s Head of Tax you will:

  • Prepare quarterly and annual jurisdictional income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, including related financial statement disclosures, and evaluate the appropriateness of valuation allowances
  • Research and analyze the tax implications of new tax regulations, new accounting standards, stock option compensation, and other technical areas
  • Develop quality processes and policy documentation to support tax and tax accounting
  • Oversee and support external tax service providers in the timely preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns in accordance with IRS and local requirements
  • Provide analysis of corporate activities and initiatives to identify areas of potential tax savings, investigate tax credits (including R&D), optimize NOL carryforwards, and other tax planning objectives
  • Coordinate with the Finance, Legal, and Human Resource teams on legal entity development, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing studies, and other tax structuring matters
  • Work with the accounting team to ensure compliance with foreign statutory requirements
  • Develop a working relationship with audit firm team
  • Assist with escalated sales, use tax, and VAT inquiries

 

The ideal Warrior will be armed with:

  • CPA or JD
  • 15 years of related work experience, including managing a team
  • Experience with multinational and public companies
  • Good communicator, team player, passion to improve current processes, and an upbeat disposition
  • Attention to detail, desire and ability to learn, self-motivation, and prioritization skills
