Job Description

 

We are looking for an experienced Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our lean People Operations Team. This position will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and processing US payroll, benefits management, onboarding/offboarding, people programs as well as other ad-hoc projects as they arise. The ideal candidate will have excellent organization, prioritization and communication skills. A strong attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines consistently and to work well under pressure is a must. The successful candidate will also help develop processes that will improve the payroll and HR processes. This position will report to the Sr. HR Manager. Payroll Responsibilities

 

 

 

Responsible for preparation and processing of semi-monthly US payroll and T&E reimbursements using ADP workforce now, including validation of all inputs to employee payroll files.

Data entry including new hires, terms, bonuses, commissions, leaves of absence, payroll calculations, deductions and garnishments

Coordinate, reconcile and review payroll processed by ADP.

Process tax changes, direct deposits, loan repayments, deduction goals, retroactive adjustments, prorated payments, special pays, etc

Generation of manual checks as needed

Understand proper taxation and deduction for compliance with the federal and state taxes

Manage quarterly and annual payroll tax returns and other compliance reports for fed and state

Preparation of 401k submission to third party administrator

Entry and maintenance of hourly employees

Review and reconcile payroll deductions and contributions such as 401k, HSA, FSA, medical against bank statements, and custodian/record-keeping statements

Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll

Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, etc)

Manage 401K audits, workers compensation audits, any state notices and Form 5500

Maintain physical payroll and stock files

Generate reports for finance, human resources

 

Benefits/HR Responsibilities

 

Manage the design, implementation and administration of GoodData’s US benefit plans and programs, including health, welfare, time-off (including leave of absence), and retirement.

Manage annual renewals and open enrollment planning, identifying and recommending changes/enhancements to the benefit offerings and cost-sharing as appropriate. Work with our Brokers to understand new trends in benefits and evaluate the appropriateness for GoodData.

Oversee compliance requirements including HIPAA, SARs, Form 5500 filings, non-discrimination testing, etc.

Work closely with the Sr. HR Manager in resolving issues related to HR, employee benefits (e.g. state disability Insurance, workers compensation, long-term disability), and payroll taxes

Manage relationships with GoodData’s global benefit brokers and retirement advisor to ensure high performance standards are met or exceeded.

Handle employee inquiries and onboarding, claims assistance, benefits survey completion, benefits eligibility, billing, COBRA, and leave of absences administration. Provide outstanding customer service for escalated employee benefit and leave needs.

Serve as point of contact for managers and employees regarding HR policies, and procedures, responsible for providing accurate and timely information

Manage employee onboarding and offboarding eg termination and severance letter preparation

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s degree required

2-4 years in an HR role required

SHRM-CP/PHR/SPHR preferred

Experience with ADP Workforce Now

Experience with a modern HRIS such as BambooHR

Strong working knowledge of US state and federal laws governing benefit plans

Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills

Business acumen and financial analysis skills (strong excel skills a plus!)

Excellent interpersonal, customer service and written/verbal communication skills

Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion and good judgment

Proactive, collaborative team member with excellent attention to detail and strong sense of urgency and follow through
