Lab Technician at Airy3D

We’re looking for an energetic person to lead our optical testing program. If you enjoy the challenge of working on a mixture of software and hardware projects with an emphasis on optical testing and you’re excited about the prospect of being part of a dynamic start-up environment, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.


Who are we and what do we do?

We are a rapidly growing team looking for people who share our passion for developing solutions at the intersection of imaging and depth. AIRY3D has developed DepthIQ™, a 3D computer vision platform that consists of a Transmissive Diffraction Mask and computational imaging software that can convert any camera sensor into a versatile 3D sensor at a fraction of the manufacturing cost.


Based in Montreal, AIRY3D recently raised US$10 million in series A funding led by Intel Capital. This financing will allow AIRY3D to advance its licensing roadmap for the first commercial adoptions of DepthIQ 3D by top-tier consumer electronics companies in mobile and other markets such as automotive and AR/VR.


What are we looking for?

As a member of our optics team you will be responsible for the execution and continuous improvement of our optical testing and quality assurance programs. You will also work closely with both our product and research and development teams to strengthen our DepthIQplatform and broaden our potential end-user applications.


What you will do:

  • Perform sophisticated image quality and depth quality testing in our optics lab.
  • Analyze depth images to strengthen the understanding of our hardware and software.
  • Design and construct testing systems and gantries for various projects.
  • Build and assemble demonstration devices. 
  • Benchmark testing protocols and implement creative solutions to improve their efficiency.


What you will bring to our team:

  • Bachelor’s or College (DEC/DCS) degree in applied or physical sciences 
  • Demonstrated experience performing, automating, and optimizing optical testing procedures 
  • Proficiency with software suites and programming languages such as ImageJ and Python
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Proficiency with general mechanical and electronics assembly and design

  • Interest in photography
  • Knowledge of various image formats and readouts
  • Cool side projects!

What does the interview process involve?

After we review your response, you may be asked to talk shop with some of our engineers and leaders.
