JOB DESCRIPTION

GoodData is looking for a high-energy technology lawyer to join the General Counsel in support of GoodData’s growing global business. The role requires a self-starting, athletic mindset to partner with colleagues internationally and to work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization. GoodData is looking for a passionate and professional team player who is detail-oriented, enthusiastic, diligent, resourceful and wants to be part of a close and collaborative legal and compliance team.

As AGC, the role will be an integral part of the organization and dedicated to helping GoodData continue its growth. This is a great opportunity for someone to accelerate an existing in-house career with a mature company, growing internationally. Initially, the role will focus on building frameworks for global privacy, commercial contracts, and corporate governance objectives, and will be expected to embed legal into every aspect of the company’s operations. Over time, the role will work closely with our executive and management teams to support business expansion activities.

The ideal candidate will have law firm, in-house and SaaS legal experience and the aptitude to learn, adapt and thrive in an ever-changing, growing environment. Prior experience with privacy and data protection regulations is highly desirable, but all GoodData lawyers are generalists, so a willingness to learn and provide counsel on new legal issues is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance on a broad range of privacy, regulatory and legal matters. Work with product and security stakeholders to ensure GoodData’s products and services are compliant with emerging global privacy laws.
  • Focus on the Company’s framework for licensing, IP, privacy, and cybersecurity, which includes support of the OGC’s contract management process and the drafting, review, and revision of contracts relating to key customers, partners, outside vendors, and global initiatives.
  • Support the General Counsel’s role as Corporate Secretary and in connection with OGC’s partnership with the President’s Office on matters related to corporate governance.
  • Provide risk mitigation advice and counsel to all areas of the company, including international offices, HR, Marketing, Finance, Account Management, Support Services, Professional Services, Engineering, Product Development/Management, and all company operations.
  • Develop compliance programs, policies, and training, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by General Counsel

REQUIREMENTS

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school, active license to practice law in California
  • Minimum of 7-10 years+ of experience practicing law at a law firm and in-house
  • SaaS technology experience required and analytics experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, meet deadlines and resolve complex problems with a thorough understanding of business and legal environments
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptive in a highly dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and advisory skills
  • Outstanding communications skills with the ability to interact effectively with executives and all levels within the organization
  • Exhibit initiative and assertiveness in obtaining information needed
  • Maintain the highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
