Job description

We’re looking for a unique individual to help us ensure go-to-market success. Who are we and what do we do?

We are a rapidly growing team looking for people who share our passion for developing solutions at the intersection of imaging and depth. AIRY3D has developed DepthIQ™, a 3D computer vision platform that consists of a Transmissive Diffraction Mask and computational imaging software that can convert any camera sensor into a versatile 3D sensor at a fraction of the manufacturing cost.


Based in Montreal, AIRY3D recently raised US$10 million in series A funding led by Intel Capital. This financing will allow AIRY3D to advance its licensing roadmap for the first commercial adoptions of DepthIQ 3D by top-tier consumer electronics companies in mobile and other markets such as automotive and AR/VR.


What are we looking for?

You will lead a small but growing team of low-level programmers and EE’s, porting computational imaging algorithms to embedded systems and developing real-time, optimized, end-user proof-of-concept applications. You will set an example of “what good looks like” for the software and hardware design process. You’ll role up your sleeves and contribute across a wide gamut of tasks, from custom sensor interface PCB integrations to choosing suitable SoC/SoM platforms and potential firmware/FPGA implementations.


What you will do:

  • Porting algorithms from C++ and OpenCV to mobile embedded platforms.
  • Optimization using heterogeneous processing (DSP, CPU and GPU).
  • Profiling to identify bottlenecks and implementing creative solutions to improve performance.
  • Writing Android device drivers.
  • Writing proof-of-concept Android applications.
  • Lead by example.


What you will bring to our team:

  • At least 5 years experience developing embedded software for mobile and/or embedded platforms, including products that have shipped.
  • At least 2 years experience of team management.
  • Advanced degree (MS) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with low-level programming on SoC architectures (Qualcomm Snapdragon, ARM Cortex), preferably applied to processing of image data from sensor through to storage, display, and/or analysis.
  • Experience with Linux, embedded software design, architecture, drivers, and performance optimization in a heterogeneous processing environment (DSP, CPU, GPU).
  • Design and oversight of outsourced manufacture of interface boards and drivers.

Bonus Points

  • Cool IoT / Maker personal projects.
  • android.hardware.camera2 API. 
  • Experience with OpenCV, OpenCL.
  • RTOS, firmware and/or FPGA design/programming experience.
