Scientific Project Manager, Engineered Cells at Synthego

Synthego is seeking a Scientific Project Manager skilled in genome editing technology to coordinate, manage, document, streamline and report on a variety of client-facing genome editing projects. The Scientific Project Manager will also be the internal client advocate, focused on managing client communication & relationships with various internal project deliverables. The ideal candidate will have technical experience with CRISPR editing and a proven record interfacing with scientific customers and internal stakeholders.

What You'll Do

    • Triage orders at intake, assess project feasibility, and determine appropriate workflow to be followed. 
    • Manage all projects assigned to team of Scientists; track project progress against timelines, foresee and mitigate roadblocks, and allocate resources as necessary to ensure timely project completion. 
    • Oversee shipping workflow and support team in generation of project reports, as well as preparation of shipments. Ensure projects are shipped upon project completion and prior to expected delivery date. 
    • Be responsible for client communication; provide clients with updates as per pre-determined milestone timeline and facilitate responses to client questions and concerns. 
    • On a need by basis, facilitate meetings between clients and internal stakeholders. Ensure proper channels of communication are open to empower clients. 
    • Interface with all functions affected by the project, including Sales, Sales Operations, Research, Product Management, Production, Quality Assurance, and Engineering.
    • Lead, motivate, and inspire project cross-functional team members; conduct regular project meetings and document status of the project including technical, scheduling and financial considerations.
    • Identify and document scope changes, ensuring timing and budget impacts are communicated to all stakeholders.
    • Establish, monitor, and improve internal turn around times and key performance/quality indicators related to the Project Management Program. 
    • Support invoicing processes including maintaining project status, planning invoice dates, and milestone review and approval.
    • Develop and distribute daily, weekly, and/or monthly reporting mechanisms, as needed.
    • Plan, develop, monitor, and track project schedules through project management related software such as MS Project (or similar) and utilize the internal Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Leverage cross-functional Engineering resources to enhance system functionality.

About You

    • A Bachelor's degree or higher in biological or life sciences disciple. 
    • Preferred laboratory experience including molecular and cellular biology, gene modification in mammalian cells. 
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Project Management function at a pharmaceutical, biotech, or contract research organization.
    • Familiarity with project planning tools such as MS Project (or similar) and concepts such as task dependencies.
    • Familiarity with electronic Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or equivalent. 
    • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements by working cross-functionally.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced deadline driven environment while delivering high-quality results.
    • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment, with the ability to influence at all levels.
    • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships across organizations in delivering the best outcome.
    • Outstanding communication skills appropriate for all levels within the company, visually communicating goals of program, relationship to business goals, and other relevant success criteria.
