Principal Solutions Consultant at DocuSign

Position Summary

The Principal Solution Consultant will support the sales team by understanding complex customer business problems and requirements and translating those into solutions leveraging DocuSign’s platform.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Understands complex customer business problems
  • Visualize customer internal systems and information topology
  • Map customer problems and systems to DocuSign solutions
  • Establish confidence in those recommendations via product expertise, custom product demonstrations, technical phone calls, workflow outlines, RFP/RFI responses, product roadmap discussions, and business process diagrams
  • Articulate selected recommendations
  • Deliver trusted, long-term, high ROI solutions
  • Partner with sales to deliver on revenue plan

From an externally facing perspective, the Principal Solution Consultant is a critical DocuSign representative. Confidence and trust begins with the Principal Solution Consultant. In many regards, the Principal Solution Consultant has to effectively “proxy” the experience and expertise of numerous key teams within the DocuSign organization.

  • Articulate the company vision, key messages, and intended use cases (as per Strategy and Marketing)
  • Exhibit complete command of the core platform, including all current and future features (as per Product Management)
  • Leverage knowledge gained from production deployments and customer experiences (as per Professional Services)
  • Exhibit strong understanding of core technologies used within the DocuSign platform, the systems we integrate with, and the methods/APIs used during integration (as per Engineering)
  • Communicate the methods, processes, and certifications which make DocuSign the most secure partner for eSignature transactions (as per Security)
  • Communicate the research, expertise, and policies which ensure that DocuSign represents a legally binding signature (as per Legal)
  • Travel: typically, 25%. Could be as high as 50% as needed.

From an internally facing perspective, the Principal Solution Consultant is a key liaison to numerous teams, including (but not limited to) many of the teams listed above.

Desired Skills & Experience:

The ideal candidate has proven, reference-able experience, including:

  • Significant demonstrable experience in a technical Pre-Sales role
  • S. Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent work experience
  • Proven experience with software system configuration and integration
  • Proven experience doing presentations in person and over the phone
  • Proven experience giving software demonstrations, ideally via GoToMeeting/etc
  • Proven experience with technical business documentation like workflow diagrams, proposals, SOWs, RFPs and RFIs, etc.
  • Proven experience working with companies of all sizes from small businesses up to the largest enterprises and employees at all levels of the organization
  • Familiarity with Enterprise-class software systems like ERP, CRM, and ECM systems.
  • Familiarity with SaaS solutions, concepts, and business models
  • Familiarity with system integration methods such as web services, SOAP APIs, and REST APIs
  • Familiarity with HTML, XML, and structured data
  • Familiarity with electronic signature concepts a plus
