Software Engineering Manager, QA (Boise) at Jelli

Jelli is looking for a strong Software Engineering Manager, QA to help us build the first global audio advertising exchange. We’re on a mission to be THE audio advertising exchange to power linear broadcast and streaming audio, globally.

For us to succeed in this mission, we need solid people that are not afraid of tackling tough problems.

In this role, you’ll be called upon to develop a deep understanding of the business objective, design a suite of test plans and execute on them to ensure a stable and scalable platform. You’ll do this as part of a team that collaborates closely with product managers and designers.

As a key stakeholder in the team you'll be responsible for being both hands-on and strategic. We need someone that can think long term and big picture one day and get their hands dirty in the trenches the next.


  • Hands-on management of the QA team and provide strategy for ensuring quality
  • Mentor junior team members and lead by example
  • Jump into the trenches and do whatever it takes to deliver value to our customers
  • Own major deliverables and coordinating your efforts within a larger team
  • Represent the QA team in cross-functional efforts involving Product Managers, Software Engineering and IT Operations
  • Compose test plans and test cases to ensure a high quality release
  • Identify and document bugs or areas of improvement throughout our software stack
  • Troubleshoot released defects and articulate impact and severity and work with team to resolve
  • Take responsibility for keeping our entire platform up and running smoothly
  • Work with tools and systems that are massively distributed
  • Identify and communicate best practices and introduce tools to keep us lean and mean


  • 3+ years managing a team
  • 6+ years testing experience
  • 6+ years of experience writing test automation code (preferably in Python or Java)
  • 3+ years of experience in REST API and UI testing with demonstrable automation experience
  • Strong experience with AWS
  • Experience with Selenium, JMeter and TestNG
  • Experience with BDT/BDD testing using Robot, Cucumber, JBehave or similar
  • Strong working knowledge of UNIX, SQL and Web 2.0 technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • Strong knowledge and hands on experience in feature and end-to-end testing
  • Experience system testing a multi-tier architecture
  • Ability to debug issues and use tools to produce high quality defect reports


  • Web security and vulnerability testing
  • Performance testing and tuning of Java applications
  • Experience managing Jenkins
