Sales Engineer - Western USA at Univa

Univa is currently seeking a Sales Engineer to cover the Western U.S.A. In this position, you will be the technical representative for our products and services in the Sales organization.  This is an applied technologist role and requires a unique blend of sales and technology savvy. You are not just doing slides – you will work directly with some of the largest enterprise accounts in the world creating successful proof of concepts and progressing the sales process through elimination of objections. You will create tremendous customer value. 

Experience with the entire sales lifecycle and support is crucial.  Distributed systems, datacenter operations, UNIX/Linux administration and previous Docker and Kubernetes container experience are all huge advantages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with customers, partners, and prospects to understand and propose solutions
  • Own the technical sales process from introductory meetings through post-sales interaction with a keen eye on progressing sales opportunities
  • Gather customer requirements and provide feedback to product management and engineering
  • Educate prospects on the business value of our product offerings versus competitive and alternative offerings
  • Support the sales process for any technical requirement from presentations to implementation and training
  • Overcome customer technical objections
  • Learn and routinely update skills in a quickly evolving market

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline with 5+ Years of experience supporting the technical sales effort of enterprise software products
  • Prior published technical papers and speaking engagements is a plus
  • Proven ability to implement, install and integrate infrastructure software in end-user data centers
  • Linux and TCP/IP Networking expertise is a must
  • Knowledge of distributed systems such as Grid Engine, LSF, Symphony, Docker Swarm, Mesos or Kubernetes would be a strong advantage
  • Working knowledge of common customer service tools such as Salesforce, Slack, Jira, Zendesk and other customer needs tracking systems
