Engineering Manager - Hardware Systems at Ossia

The Role:

As Engineering Manager for Hardware Systems at Ossia, you will be responsible for leading an experienced team of engineers in the design and delivery of integrated wireless power systems. This hands-on role requires broad knowledge of several areas in hardware design and systems engineering including: requirements definition; interface definitions; circuit design of mixed signal boards. The position requires solid experience in a relevant field as well as strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Gather requirements, develop architecture and lead development of the system-level-design of multiple board architecture.
  • Work with cross functional engineering teams on HW/RF/ME/FPGA/SW enabling technologies.
  • Coordinate design activities internally for the subsystems under team’s responsibility from specification through test and delivery
  • Develop overall block diagrams, interfaces among main modules, PCB floor plan, considering speed, noise, size considerations as well as providing route guidance, power and heat budgeting and analysis.
  • Define, simulate, and model product: power, speed, and reliability performance considering environmental requirements.
  • Integrate and test the final system
  • Lead and mentor other HW engineers and establish industry best practices in the team’s design processes. 
  • Hiring, developing and retaining engineering talent. Performance management, goal setting and compensation planning of team members.
  • Act as a technical focal point for customers

Minimum Requirements:

  • Expert in HW product development, system architecture, design for low cost, design for manufacturability and high reliability.
  • Proven track record of taking one or more new products (ideally consumer electronics products) from initial concept, to prototype, and full-scale production.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams
  • At least 15 years' relevant experience, including system-level design. This should include at least 5 years’ experience in leading/managing engineering teams of 10 or more in a product development environment.
  • Must have hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support.
  • Experience with Altium schematic capture tool, and other relevant CAD tools is a plus.
  • Experience in a customer facing role that can communicate clearly and present oneself in a professional and organized manner.

 Education:

 

  •  BS/MS in one or more relevant engineering disciplines (EE and/or ME). If candidate has some formal SW training (degree or classes) that would be a plus.
