Pleasanton, CA, US
AEye is looking for a highly motivated Sr. MEMS Control System Engineer. The individual will work primarily at AEye’s facilities in developing advanced control algorithms for our MEMS/MOEMS based random access LiDAR scanner and characterize its performance. The candidate will report to the Director of MEMS Technology and assume responsibilities related to the the designing and testing of the MEMS/MOEMS non-linear servo control system.
Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of algorithms and FPGA firmware for the non-linear servo control of MEMS mirrors with open loop and closed loop feedback control.
  • Collaborate with engineers from the Electrical Engineering team on the control electronics and FPGA firmware implementation.
  • Lead the development of advanced servo control capabilities for next generation MEMS systems.
  • Prepare technical presentations and provide detailed status and progress reports.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skill & Experience Requirements (required):
  • Strong knowledge and direct experience with the design and implementation of nonlinear servo control (open loop and closed loop feedback servo mechanisms) of MEMS mirrors.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with position sensing mechanisms such as piezoresistive sensors, position sensing photodetectors, capacitive sensors and etc.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with temperature and other environmental compensation of control systems.
  • Strong background in development of algorithms, coding, FPGA firmware and in any one or more of computer languages (C, C++,Python, MATLAB etc…).
  • Strong proficiency in using simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink, Labview for systems simulation of servo control with MEMS models.
  • Experience using MEMS design tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, or Coventorware to generate MEMS models for circuit analysis.
  • Utilizing internal system design resources to optimize and improve performance and control of MEMS mirror operation.
  • Strong understanding of non-linear systems and establishing mathematical models.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
