Director, Project Management Organization at Synthego

Synthego’s prides itself in its breadth of skill sets and expertise that are responsible for our rapid new product and infrastructure development. To accomplish this, they have combined engineering, automation and science to solve the problems that no one discipline could tackle alone. As the PMO Director, you will help set the foundation of Synthego’s Project Management Approach. You will build out and develop the project and product management process and resources, as well as directly coordinate the companies top-level strategic initiatives.

What You'll Do

    • PMO Management:
    • Manage the day-to-day activities in the Project Management Office (PMO) and the PMO team
    • Create and manage a system for project submission, prioritization, and approval
    • Maintaining a clear and visible pipeline of approved projects and their status
    • Proactively engage with senior management and executives to identify opportunities for business improvements
    • Collate qualitative and quantitative information on project performance for reporting internally
    • Ensure a clear and consistent approach is in place to manage expectations for project risks and delivery timelines
    • Drive the adoption of PMO processes and governance across the key business areas
    • Devise, produce and implement new systems and processes to optimize more effective project management as required 
    • Provide feedback on services provided by the PMO and improved stakeholder perception in regards to PMO services and value to the business
    • Create a central PMO repository and own all relevant PMO data, such as to create a well-structured knowledge base of all past/ongoing/future efforts (Jira/Confluence)
    • Encourage knowledge transfer and lessons learned activities within the PMO and project teams to drive best practices
    • Facilitate sharing of best practices through PMO collaboration and/or formal training sessions to enable a consistent approach across all projects
    • Initiative and Product Delivery:
    • Create detailed work breakdown and action plans for the duration of each initiative
    • Ensure requirements are captured and agreed to ensure initiative activities meet agreed initiative objectives
    • Ensure monitoring of progress against all initiatives is timely and accurate
    • Ensure risks, issues and dependencies are being recorded, monitored and proactively managed to minimize disruption to successful delivery
    • Deliver a consistent and unified view of all company initiatives to the executive team
    • Participate in initiative reviews, approvals, and gating processes
    • Be an advocate of the organization’s New Product Introduction (NPI) process
    • Scope and shape the requirements of the NPI Approach across the organization, working closely with Leadership
    • Ensure relevant document templates are available and standardized in the central repository for both Initiative and Product team members

About You

    • You have significant experience at a senior level in a PMO Function
    • You’ve gained a formal project management qualification (PMP or equivalent)
    • You have a proven track-record of being a thought leader for project management, with examples of creating viable PMO services and supporting pragmatic delivery of projects
    • Managing and motivating matrix project teams is part of your day-to-day, including mentoring and coaching the members of a PMO towards industry best practices
    • You can shown evidence of working through difficulties with prioritisation matrices, and working with the business to determine appropriate project prioritisation
    • You have experience of developing of a process for commercial organisations to be guided through, in order to introduce new product smoothly into a manufacturing environment
    • Juggling different projects/priorities, and delivering high quality outcomes under pressure, is normal operating procedure
    • You’ve championed the ideas and best practices of project/programme management; standardising the process of project management across of various disciplines / aims
    • You provide timely, accurate, and relevant project and portfolio information as agreed with executive sponsors
    • You can help plan PMO resources against the prioritised portfolio of projects and work with a variety of business units to manage the required project resources
    • You have strong interpersonal, time management, and problem solving skills
