Work like you mean it

As a Principal Data Scientist, you represent a mixture between a statistician, scientist, machine learning expert and engineer: someone who has passion for building and improving Internet-scale products informed by data. The ideal candidate understands human behavior and supports their findings with data.

Your mission (should you choose to accept it.)

  • Drive company-wide vision for data-driven decision making
  • Use quantitative analysis, data mining, and machine learning techniques to understand how millions of drivers are interacting with their car, community, and Xevo's services
  • Design and use statistically sound methodologies for evaluating hundreds of tests on millions of drivers
  • Work alongside other data scientists as well as software and data engineers to expand Xevo's catalog of tools, techniques, and best practices for manipulating and interpreting terabytes of events from millions of cars
  • Writing whitepapers for sharing our discoveries and insights, internally and externally
  • Deep dive into the guts of Xevo’s data to answer ad hoc business questions
  • Assessing and building prototypes based on existing customer data
  • Lead a team of data scientists in regularly delivering insights across a broad array of business priorities, providing regular mentorship to each of them
  • Data analysis, munging, and/or modeling at scale using Hadoop, Pig, Scala, Spark
  • Python, Scala, R, Julia, Octave 

So, do you have what it takes?

  • Passion to answer Product/Engineering questions with data
  • Experience with data collection, aggregation, analysis, visualization, preparing for production, and monitoring of data for large amounts of data
  • Preferred Ph.D. or M.S. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Natural Science,
  • 6+ years experience developing software products and services
  • 3+ years of industrial Data Science experience, with expertise in machine learning and statistical modeling
  • 3+ years managing/leading teams of technical people to solve challenging problems
