Head of European Sales at Synthego

Synthego is seeking a Head of European Sales with a strong life sciences technical background and mindset toward multiplicative growth trajectories.  This is a significant leadership role in the company that provides the foundation for the develop and growth of a world class European technical sales organization.  
Location:  Europe - near major airport. Netherlands, UK, or Germany preferred 
Travel is ~50%
As Head of Sales in Europe you will be expected to provide vision, leadership and direction with overall account management responsibility and strategy.
Reporting to Synthego’s VP of Global Sales, you will be expected to develop and implement business development initiatives to drive sales and aggressive quarter over quarter business growth.
You will be a key member of the sales management team, working closely with the VP of Global Sales and other business areas to ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded, and to ensure the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction.
As Head of European Sales you will be responsible for the management and ownership of the overall sales strategy and targets for Europe. You will be responsible for hiring, building and mentoring a sales team, including sales process and methodology for Europe.  The role also works closely with our Silicon-Valley based tech-style marketing team to generate leads and implement the marketing strategy for Synthego in Europe.  You may also be required to supervise other staff members within a future European corporate office.

Responsibilities & Success Parameters

    • Effectively forecast and hit sales revenue targets in a rapidly developing CRISPR technology space.
    • Where, when and why to allocate a direct sales team vs. distribution
    • Effectively work with marketing and sales operations to utilize tools and resources that elucidate key insights about customers and sales cycles and develops European sales strategies to address insights.
    • Includes effective usage of CRM databases to manage deal flow, forecasting, and customer segmentation
    • Effectively manage and coach the direct European sales team in sales strategy and tactics; develop and manage a distributor network.
    • Effectively work with the internal global support teams to develop sales training content and ensure technical expertise in Europe

Requirements & Key Characteristics

    • The successful candidate will have an extensive track record of success selling technical molecular biology products (CRISPR based product highly preferred), senior level management experience,  combined with outstanding communication skills and cultural awareness.
    • 10+ years key account/corporate technical sales experience in Life Sciences with a minimum of 5 years of experience and proven success in sales management and team building.  Emphasis on molecular biology reagents/customer or service sales scenarios is strongly preferred.  Capital sales experience is less applicable. 
    • Ability to speak fluently about biological sciences and techniques.
    • Comfort and fluency in basic legal documentation and life science procurement systems at large pharma/biotech firms.
    • Strong analytical skills and history of developing effective, data driven, sales strategies and metrics
    • Strong growth mindset for territory and revenue multiplicative growth  quarter over quarter
    • Network of customer contacts in the pan-European biotech/pharma industry is strongly preferred
    • Strong English language communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
    • A start-up mentality with an intense, committed work ethic.
