Lead Mechanical Systems Integration Engineer at Ossia

The Lead Mechanical Systems Integration Engineer will join the Motherson-Ossia joint venture team to lead the technical implementation of wireless power in mobility applications. You will be a key member of, and an interface between, design teams and project management to support system integration and planning. You will lead technical oversight of the integrated system design, perform mechanical design and physical integration of electrical systems and components from proof-of-concept into production for vehicles (cars, trucks, buses, trains, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Carry out design integration/systems engineering activities in accordance with standards and practices, flexibly adapting methods to different types of projects
  • Requirements, functional and systems analyses for new products and demonstration systems
  • Monitor technical performance and review system verification tests
  • Development and maintain system analysis documentation
  • Lead and/or participate in reviews focusing on mechanical design, integration and packaging of electrical systems
  • Understand and document system behaviors and architectural tradeoffs
  • Support inter-disciplinary design teams, including electrical, RF, antenna, systems and manufacturing/process
  • Create and maintain a design integration framework, focusing on mechanical design aspects, that enhances the understanding of complex system interfaces to enable optimal decision-making, control and product planning
  • Develop and integrate engineering processes and provide feedback for improvements
  • Identify and evaluate risks to safety, costs, and schedules with respect to major design modifications
  • Interface between the Ossia wireless power design team and the Motherson automotive team to ensure end-to-end system functionality

 Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of B.S. in mechanical engineering. M.S. or Ph.D. a plus.
  • 10+ years of hands-on system integration experience – preferably in interiors of mobility platforms  (automobiles, trucks, trains, airplanes)
  • 10+ years of CAD modeling experience, in SolidWorks and CATIA
  • Experience in mechanical systems and components design and analysis
  • Demonstrated experiences fostering collaboration of distributed, multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Understanding technical aspects of design and integration of electronics packaging
  • Understanding mass production manufacturing processes for mobility interiors
  • Experience with first-of-a-kind design projects for proof-of-concept, demonstration and pilot systems
  • Experience in project leadership and management is highly desirable
  • Experience in formal decision analysis is desirable
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Engenders trust and respect, displays integrity and communicates openly
