The Role:

Ossia Inc. is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who will engage in all aspects of mechanical design and testing. This position will be a key member of the Mechanical Engineering Team on day-to-day tactical assignments.

The Responsibilities:

  • Design of electronics enclosures, including thermal solution design, simulation, and test
  • Test fixture design using inputs and requirements from the design team
  • Assemble first article systems, checking for fit, and train technicians in system assembly 
  • Document bill of materials, fabrication, and assembly drawings for production application using industry standard PDM tools
  • Respond to department requests for customer and marketing support documentation
  • Communicate work flow priorities and needs

The Requirements:

  • 5–10 years of Mechanical Engineering design experience required; electronics industry environment preferred
  • Experience designing and testing cooling solutions
  • 5–10 years direct experience with CAD; preferably in Solidworks
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple work assignments
  • Ability to research and procure components, lab tools and equipment
  • Ability to communicate clearly with people from diverse cultures, and all levels and skill sets
  • Excellent organizational skills for documentation and ensuring that all work and knowledge is captured for future use

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing components for both additive and subtractive manufacturing (eg, 3D printing or CNC machining)
  • Experience designing injection-molded parts
  • Experience working with ordering and kitting parts for assembly
  • Experience with thermal simulation using computational fluid dynamics (preferably Solidworks Flow)
  • Experience with mechanical design of RF enclosures
  • Experience with designing for reliability (automotive experience would be a plus)
  • Understands how to design for low cost
  • Experience with designing for manufacturability (DFM)

Education:

Undergraduate degree in  Mechanical Engineering required; Electrical Engineering a plus
