We are looking for an experienced Embedded Linux Engineering professional to join our organization.  In this position, you will participate in embedded firmware and embedded Linux development to deliver wireless power.  A keen attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and solid embedded programming and systems knowledge base are essential.  This role will include hands-on C and C++ embedded Linux programming on constrained ARM hardware.  

The Role:

  • Work directly with the other Embedded Software/Firmware Engineers and Electrical/RF/Systems Test Engineers to write needed Linux code.
  • Maintain/create Linux system build and release.
  • Design and implement C/C++ code on constrained embedded Linux systems.
  • Use compliers, revision control and automated build systems.
  • Use debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and other test tools to debug hardware and firmware.
  • Read and understand schematics, timing diagrams and other artifacts of embedded systems/hardware/firmware development.
  • Write unit tests and support automated test tools.
  • Provide technical guidance, support and educate team members and coworkers on firmware use.
  • Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve product and processes.
  • Consult with peers for feedback during debug/testing stages.
  • Manage CI and CD tools (Atlassian BitBucket/Bamboo) for Linux and Embedded IAR toolchains.
  • Participate in release process, sprints and update Jira tickets.
  • Document and design various processes; update existing processes.
  • Follow all company procedures and safety rules..
  • Follow all best practices and procedures as established by company and profession.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, electrical engineering, software engineering, or related field.
  • Three to Five years previous experience in embedded Linux development (would consider new master with strong embedded Linux experience).
  • Deep understanding of embedded C/C++ in embedded systems on Linux.
  • Experience with embedded Linux systems on small processors such as ARM.
  • Experience writing/maintaining Linux drivers down to the lowest level such as SPI, I2C and GPIO.
  • Strong shell scripting skills and familiarity with Python or similar scripting languages. 
  • Experience with development tools including C/C++ compliers, source control/build tools (Git, BitBucket, Jira, Bamboo or similar).
  • Ability to read extract a detailed programmers model from schematics/datasheets.
  • Up-to-date on latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently.
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Able to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment up to 30 pounds or more.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of communications protocols and theory at the PHY and MAC levels
  • Experience with Scrum/Kanban, Agile workflow methodologies.
  • An interest in radio, wireless communications or IoT.
  • Local candidates preferred.
